Discover why the Brazilian Northeast is one of our favorites
The Nordeste represents so much of Brazil’s culture and geography. It includes some of the best destinations for travelers who want to escape winter and find refuge in the all-year-long warm weather and always warm Nordestinos (locals). Here are some of our picks on the region that you can share with your clients when they ask what’s the buzz about the Brazilian Northeast.
Remember that like any travel destination, the Northeast has its own set of considerations and challenges, such as varying levels of infrastructure, weather conditions, and safety precautions. Winter is coming, so don’t hesitate to ask us about travel experiences in Salvador, Chapada Diamantina, Lençóis Maranhenses, Fernando de Noronha, etc., and we’ll help you plan a smooth and enjoyable trip for your clients looking to escape from the cold in some divine paradise.
Cultural melting pot
Early European colonization in Brazil happened here, playing a crucial role in various historical events and movements. This explains why it is a cultural melting pot, shaped by indigenous, African, and European influences. You'll encounter vibrant music, dance, art, and cuisine that are specific to the region. Historical cities like Salvador, Olinda, and São Luís offer a glimpse into Brazil's colonial past with well-preserved architecture and cultural sites. Traveling to the Northeast allows you to interact with friendly locals, experience their way of life, and gain insights into their traditions and customs.
Many different landscapes
Perfect weather
We’ve said it already, but if your travelers are seeking warm weather and sunshine, the Northeast is an excellent choice. The region enjoys a tropical climate, making it an ideal destination for beach lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Whether they are interested in surfing, snorkeling, hiking, biking, exploring historic sites, or simply relaxing on the beach, the Northeast offers a variety of activities to suit different preferences.
Party all over
TIt is famous for its lively festivals, such as Carnival, São João (Midsummer Festival), and Bumba-Meu-Boi. These events showcase the region's unique traditions, music, and vibrant street parties.
Unique gastronomy
Everyone needs to, at least once, try Northeastern cuisine, known for its flavorful and diverse offerings. You can savor local dishes like acarajé (deep-fried bean cake), tapioca crepes, moqueca (fish stew), and feijoada (black bean stew). And each state has its own culinary specialties!
Lower costs
Travel costs in the Northeast can often be more affordable compared to other popular destinations, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious travelers.
Environmental and community projects
One of the top reasons we love this region is working with local communities. There are many projects and collective initiatives to protect the environment, share cultural wealth, and provide better opportunities to this region’s inhabitants. By choosing to visit the Northeast, visitors can be part of sustainable travel initiatives and contribute to the local economy while enjoying the most interesting cultural exchange experiences.
Forbes Advisor Ranks Brazil 1st in Ecotourism Travel
Last month’s happy news was published in Forbes Advisor and we are so excited because it makes total sense with our next movements. Let us explain. Brazil got the highest score on the Forbes Ecotourism index, with 94.9/100, ranking first and putting the country on the spotlight.
“Around 30% of Brazil’s land mass is currently protected. This includes eight UNESCO Natural World Heritage Sites, one of which is the Central Amazon Conservation complex, which protects threatened species such as the Amazonian manatee and the black caiman.”
This is great not only because it recognizes and celebrates the efforts of many entities to protect the environment, but hopefully puts some pressure on the areas that are lacking this kind of care. The timing is also perfect as we are currently reviewing, analyzing and choosing new environmental and community projects in different regions of Brazil. The whole idea is to build partnerships with Aniyami so we can all grow with sustainable travel initiatives while generating positive and transformational exchange between the territories and their visitors.
